How to create a website

This is the structural layer of a website, consisting of a series of tags

HTML is the backbone of a website, consisting of the raw code containing the text and images of a website

With HTML, you can:

• Display text and tell the browser how they should be structured on the screen
• Link to other HTML files
• Display images and tell the browser how they should be structured on the screen

Some HTML tags which can be used to create a website:

• html - contains the HTML code
• head - contains the background information about the page, links to css files etc.
• title - contains what will be displayed in the tab
• link - allows css or javascript sheets to be connected
• body - contains the contents of the page that appear to the user
• h1,h2,h3 - headers of different sizes
• p - paragraph tags used to contain text you wish to appear on the webpage
• ul - unordered list - creates a list of items with bullet points
• ol - ordered list - creates a list of items with numbers
• li - list item - used to list items in a list
• - creates page divisions used to separate different parts of the website
• - allows for user input to be taken through use of input boxes, sliders, buttons etc
